We focus on gender inequality issues in Japan and Korea through art and social projects. Our goal is to educate in order to achieve gender equality for all men, women and members of the LGBT community.
According to the Global Gender Gap Index 2014 by the World Economic Forum, among 142 countries, Japan ranked #104 and Korea ranked #117 in terms of women’s access to the economy, education, politics and health. This rank puts Korea and Japan in last, and second to last, place, respectively, among countries that belong to the OECD (Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development), i.e. developed nations.
Our work makes use of the medium of pop culture, magazines, Internet memes, and commercial advertising, in a way that is critical but accessible and culturally sensitive. By adopting the forms of popular culture, we work in the space between parody, critique, and suggestion.
