TGT FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions:

Would TGT be interested in participating in this show/event/lecture/contributing a text?

Please feel free to contact us about exhibition, event, lecture or publishing opportunities. When writing to us, please include in your initial email information about when and where the event will take place, relevant deadline dates, and (importantly) what kind of budget you may have available for exhibiting artist fees, writers fees, or lecture honorarium. TGT tends to have a very busy schedule, so please do keep in mind that it may take up to two weeks to receive a reply from us about offers.

Can I interview someone in TGT?

For press inquiries, please refer to our Press page and downloadable press kit. Unfortunately, due to the number of requests we receive, we are unable to give interviews for student projects. We would love to be able to respond to questions from the public, but because of the amount of time needed to respond thoughtfully and thoroughly to such inquiries we are unable to do so for free. But because of the number of requests like this that we receive, we wanted to create an opportunity for people to ask us questions directly--but without sacrificing so much of our time for free. One of the benefits included at the $25 level on our Patreon page is the ability to ask TGT a question and receive personalized information on the topic of your choice. So if you have a question you would like to ask us, please subscribe at this level for at least one month, and then contact us with your question!

I would like to know more about the state of feminism in Japan. Can I talk to someone from TGT to learn about this?

This is a complex area of study and one that we are not able to condense into a few paragraphs. Please see the above FAQ if you would like to submit a question, and subscribe to our newsletter on Patreon to learn more about the context of feminism in East Asia. We will be releasing a resources page there soon!

I'm going to Japan, can I meet a TGT member?

We are very sorry, but it is impossible for us to accommodate individual meetings for people visiting Japan. If you would like to find out about TGT events that may be happening in Japan, or in your area (we are active all over the world!), please follow our social networks: particularly our Japanese-language Facebook page and Twitter, as well as our Instagram, for upcoming events in Japan and elsewhere. We also offer a Video Chat with a TGT member, as a reward for our $50 level subscribers on Patreon!

Can I join / work with TGT?

We are happy to hear from potential new members and collaborators! At the moment we are seeking members who have the following applicable skills: fundraising, grant-writing and research, writing/editing. When contacting us, please make sure to detail how you can contribute, and what skills can you offer? Do you have the time to contribute to the group in a meaningful way? Can you help us raise funds? If you feel you are qualified and are interested in joining, please contact us.

We also occasionally work in collaboration with other artists / organizations. When contacting us about such opportunities, please keep in mind that our target audience and main goal is spreading awareness of feminist issues and ideals to young people in East Asia. If that is a good fit with your project / idea / exhibition, and you have funding (or a good plan for finding funding), please reach out to us!

I’m a curator and I’m interested in doing a studio visit with TGT. Where is TGT located?

We are a dispersed, de-centralized, non-hierarchical artist collective, so we do not have a physical location or a studio. We are located all over the world. For curators interested in learning more about our practice, an online video chat is how we do studio visits.
